Checking balance is there a problem?

When using a hardware wallet like ledger, trezor etc...is there any security problem of using their apps like ledger live and trezor suite just to check the corrent balance of your bag? its even useful to see if the funds have not being moved without needing to connect your hardware wallet to your laptop.

I read someone advice against it for security reasons, but if you have your recovery in a safe place dont know how that would be a risk of loosing your bag
