WSB mod sold his exclusive avatar for 14 ETH...and there's no conspiracy here

I'm writing this in response to this post:

I'm sorry to disappoint all of you who were hoping this was some big scandal like the post implies (that's the majority, judging by the comments), but this simply isn't the case.

The reason the trade was done this way was most likely to save on the 7.5% fees (about $1500).

I have done similar trades myself with other avatar collectors. We didn't do this to hide anything from anybody (as we all know- the blockchain doesn't lie). We were simply doing the equivalent of an over the counter transaction.

It's no different than me contacting one of the mods here and asking if they'd like to trade some of their Moons for ETH to save on fees and spread.

As to why this user (and 22 others) received the extra valuable wsb avatars (the ones with the golden hodl hat, rocket and money printer):

Everyone who received these unique avatars were contacted by reddit back in July and were involved in the project directly. Some of them even helped design the avatars themselves. I believe there were around 100 users (mods and top contributors) involved with this at the time, but as it took so long before the avatars were released many of these users were no longer active and didn't end up claiming by the time the drop happened.

For the record, I have one of these rare avatars. But I didn't receive it for free, I paid for it. So, am I bitter that I had to pay for something that someone else received for free? Absolutely not! They earned it, and I'm happy that they agreed to sell it to me.

Perhaps top users and mods in this sub will be contacted by reddit in the future, and those lucky users may also receive a unique r/cc Moon themed avatar that goes on to be very valuable. Now, I would be very envious to miss out on that, but I wouldn't have any animosity towards those that were selected, and neither should anyone else.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear up some false accusations, because I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it if those accusations had been made about you, and then downvoted you in the comments when you tried to clarify what actually happened.
