When talking about Bitcoin, don’t tell people you own more than an amount they could realistically afford

Just a shower thought but: it’s obviously not a good idea to brag about how much bitcoin you own; however if you want to help increase adoption you should mind this all the more.

When talking to someone about bitcoin who doesn’t own any, you can suggest it’s a good idea to own a small amount “just in case”; if they ask or you feel like it would help to say it, mention you own or have bought an amount no bigger than what they could realistically afford to buy (unless you own less than that in which case you might as well tell the whole truth). You can also present them the idea of a monthly/weekly DCA as an easy way to accumulate.

People don’t want to be left behind but if you tell them you own a bigger amount they will inevitably think how much better off you will be than them when it moons or whatever and potentially turn sour towards the whole idea. If it’s achievable for them to match or even outdo you however, oftentimes they will do just that.

To be clear, as a longtime holder and without planning to ever sell, my intent is not to manipulate these people but help them in a somewhat subtle manner.
