Unfortunately, the Ethereum merger will not result in lower gas fees. The Merge is one step on a long road map for scaling Ethereum laid out by Vitalik Buterin and the Ethereum Foundation. Layer 2 solutions that significantly reduce Ethereum fees, such as Polygon (MATIC-USD), Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync, and others, are currently available and part of Ethereum's long-term vision. The Ethereum blockchain will also be shared, which will reduce fees over time.
