I know this is a very low probability event but it is a non zero probable event because of the hazards posed by solar flares etc, internet could be down for an extended period.
I do also recognise that in such an event, conventional Fiat system is also screwed but what I am specifically looking for is what might happen if BTC blockchain is down due to non availability of internet.
What might happen when the internet resumes again? Is there a possibility of having multiple chains? What if a state player, say a rival, would try to make multiple chains to harm the rival state which had its foreign reserves in bitcoin. In such a situation how will the consensus be achieved ?
Again, I know this is an unlikely situation but I am just looking out for fellow devil’s advocates so as to understand the bitcoin blockchain better. Thanks in advance.
