Hi Everyone,
Listen to my story, have a laugh and dont be like me.
Today, I thought was my lucky day. Walking down the street, I saw what looked like someones license on the floor ahead of me. Being the good samaritan I am, I picked it up to return it to the poor soul who lost it.
It wasnt a license. It was a fancy-ass Bitcoin Paper Wallet in a protective cover, replete with tamper-proof silver seal to see if private code had been accessed. The seal was intact and this thing looked LEGIT.
My heart skipped a beat. Had I been bleased by Satoshi himself? Was Hal Finney handing out christmas presents? Wss this one of those legendary scavenger hunt BTC wallets?
I get home and I check the thing out.Its Got deposit and Withdrawal QR codes. I get my old phone and scan the withdrawal QR. 0.47 BTC!!! Hey, I wont retire from it but pretty good!
I hit the withdraw button and it takes me to nowpayments.io (a crypto payments api), asking for 0.5% of the BTC value for the transaction.
Some alarm bells rang but not loud enough. Anyway, the dumbass that I am sent them ~$60 for the "transaction" from my binance wallet.
Anyway, this is either the most genius or dumbest scam I have ever come across. Happened in AUS btw.
Scam site is: holonotewallet.com (yeah im a dumbass)
Public key is: 1LMy3vemjaA46SATjZp9FfVSkUA8QiYjgE
Reported to bitcoinwhoiswho
Anyway, Just wanted to ask: Is there any chance that me scanning the QR uploaded something malicious to my device (screen capture or keylogger etc?)
Lastly for google: holo note wallet is a scam holonotewallet scam holonote wallet Bitcoin scam.
Ty & be safe
