This may be a good time to re-evaluate your account security.

With the recent and sharp rise of the Reddit collectible avatars, it is probably safe to say your account has became much more valuable over the last few days- and with some luck, the value could even become exponentially higher going forward. With that being said, it may be a good time to re-evaluate your account security.

Some of us may already practice good security habits and this post isn't for you, but there may also be some of us who may not have considered the value of our reddit account or the ease in which they might be compromised. Between MOONS and Gen 1 avatars, reddit accounts are quickly becoming more valuable, and likely to be a larger future target for hackers and scammers alike.

Personally, I never felt it necessary to have "crypto-grade" security practices in place for my reddit account... until now. Considering how much my account is now worth, it would be stupid not to. Some of us may even have reddit accounts more valuable than our crypto portfolios, so it only makes sense to protect it with the same level of security that you protect your crypto with.

I personally recommend a hardware key ???? like the Yubikey, but at the VERY LEAST, you should have some type of 2-FA enabled on your account. A security key is a very small investment, and the level of security it provides is spectacular. For anyone unfamiliar, I strongly suggest you look into them today.

Treat your reddit sign-in as if it's your exchange log-in. Once someone is able to log into your account they have full access to your wallet information. If your account doesn't have 2fa it's as easy as obtaining just your password. With the value climbing like it is, reddit accounts are going to become a more lucrative target for hackers than they have been previously.

While most of us are professionals and have already secured our accounts, there are many of us that haven't. If you're fortunate enough to have increased your account's value you should consider if upgrading your account security is necessary and whether it's not a good time to finally invest in a security key if you haven't already.
