The economics of Ethereum

Hey there,

for the last two hours I have been looking around the internet and reddit especially for an answer to the following question:

How is staking long term viable?

Maybe my numbers are wrong, but here ist my calculation:

There are currently around $ 27.000.000.000 of Ethereum staked, which yield 5%.

That results in a yearly payment of $1.350.000.000 to the stakers.

The current fees are (optimistically) at $1 per transaction and Ethereum has had 408.000.000 transactions in 2022. This results in a net loss of $900.000.000.

Where is that money coming from and what is the long term plan to cover the cost for staking?

I do not ask these questions in a mean mannered way, I am a crypto enthusiast, but I simply do not understand the economics and honestly feel a bit dumb about it, since nobody seems to ask/answer this question...

Thank you all in advance for your answers.
