I feel like so many of people's problems with crypto as they stat out, including scams and trouble with exchanges, would be so easily solved if you were required to watch a 10-minute video or read a short piece detailing all the most basics of basics regarding the space, exchanges, wallets and all that. I'm convinced it would cut the amount of newbie issues in half if new investors were required to learn about crypto for just 10 minutes.
And of course, the difference between exchanges and wallets is a great example of that. Of course having your money in exchanges is convenient, especially for coins that have high gas fees, and especially if you're used to swapping and trading a lot.
I think it's worse because most new investors might hear about 'not your keys, not your coins' but will think 'oh that's just a fringe case, that'll never happen to ME' and then get burned accordingly.
Overall, I feel like some level of education regarding crypto should be required as soon as you download your first exchange. Would love to hear your thoughts.
