Some noob help needed...

Hello, I am trying to buying some cryptocurrency, to pay someone online. I am trying to figure this out but it seems that half the "guides" are promotional material, half the advice are assuming I know more than I do, and the other half is dated 6 years old X_X. I want to send a small amount <500e, so what would be a sane way to do it?

I was planning on bitcoin (simply because it is the most heard of), and I posted on that subreddit but it seems I got more spammers trying to sell me "for no fees" rather than helping me understand what's going on and what I will have to pay. (And I mean, if I go to bitcoin they would suggest bitcoin)

It even bitcoin a good option? Also, it is understandable to be some fees but paying a fee to buy, an unknown fee to move to my wallet, and an other unknown fee to send to the other person seems a bit...weird? Am I getting something wrong?

Anyhow I will be happy if there are any simple guides on how to do this...thanks!
