Some great lightning wallets you can use

Here are some of the best lightning wallets, each one provides slightly different things, so try them and see which one you prefer.

Non-Custodial:

This means that you have the private keys and full control of your Bitcoins. You will be able to restore your wallet if you lose your phone or delete the app.

Note that lightning wallets need extra things to backup (like the status of the channels) and that's done differently on each app, so backups only work for the same app (you can't restore a Muun wallet on Breez for example).

• Muun

Easiest to use for someone new. The interface is really simple and minimalist. You can even receive a few sats for free with an empty wallet as Muun pays for your initial channel openings, which are done automatically(you pay a bit extra in later transfer to pay for this).

They have a nice backup system and you can transfer your sats into an on-chain address any time, and you can manually set the fee.

There's no manual control of what node to connect to, it's all done automatically for you.

• Blixt

This is one of the most advanced and yet not well known lightning wallets out there. It runs a lightning node and a light bitcoin node (Neutrino) on the phone, and connects to a full Bitcoin node run by Blixt. You can set it to connect to your own full Bitcoin node instead.

It support most of the newest features in lightning like lnurl, send to lightning address, etc. The developer is a Swedish guy and he's very active on Telegram, so you can ask questions directly, and he's always adding some new features to it.

• Breez

This also has a lightning node and a Neutrino light bitcoin node running on the phone. You can set it to connect to your own node as well. It automatically opens channels for you for about 3k+ sats.

• Zeus

This is an advanced wallet that allows you to connect directly to your own lightning node. It also supports some of the most advanced features of lightning.

• Phoenix

This wallet is a lightning only wallet, similar to Breez, it has its own lightning node and allows you to connect to your own Bitcoin node. This wallet charges you a bit more to automatically open channels for you (4k+ sats) and requires a minimum of 10k sats for the first transaction.

Custodial:

This means that you have a login into the system, and some company has the private keys to your Bitcoins. If you don't have too much money there, it shouldn't matter too much. On the plus side, these wallets are the easiest to use.

• Wallet of Satoshi

This is probably the easiest and simplest to use. Minimalist design, similar to Muun. Very popular wallet and supports a lot of the new features in lightning.

• Blue Wallet

This wallet is also very easy to use, but it also allows you to do extra things like having a watch only wallet, multi-signature wallets, etc. Also you can connect to your own full Bitcoin node just like Electrum (through electrum personal server for example).
