There is still zero tax on holding crypto in Slovenia, but government has been trying to do something lately. First proposal died in 2 days or so. Second one was criticized on many levels and died after 3 months.
Now we have the number 3. Tax will work like this:
Everyone gets 10k Euros allowance per year. After that you pay 5% on your withdrawals/purchases. It doesn't matter what you do in crypto, you only pay once you send money to your bank account or buy goods/services.
Example: let's say you have 100k of total withdrawals in a year. 5% on (100k-10k) is 4500. Tax is 4500.
You cannot opt to pay tax only on profits.
If you lost money on crypto you can opt to pay no taxes.
Now the bill is open for public comments. Let's see what happens.
