[serious] Here's how to recover your funds if you accidentally sent something to your wallet but selected the wrong network.

I think I took it for granted this is not common knowledge. When I was trying to figure out how to get my ETH to my Reddit Vault I first mistakenly sent some to Ethereum mainnet and then to Arbitrum, not realizing Arbitrum Nova was a separate L2 from Arbitrum.

When I posted about it most replies seemed to misunderstand that the ETH I sent to Ethereum Mainnnet and Arbitrum One were gone. In fact they were safe and sound.

Here's how you can also find your funds happily waiting for you on the network you chose by mistake.

Many networks will create identical wallets from the same seed phrase. For example Arbitrum One, Ethereum, and Arbitrum Nova wallets will all give you the same wallet address (public key) from the same seed phrase.

So for me to recover the few dollars of ETH I accidentally sent to Arbitum One and Ethereum Mainnnet all I needed to do was create a new Ethereum and Arbitrum One wallet using the seed phrase for my Reddit vault. Voila! My funds were right there happily waiting for me.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as long as the network is based on the Ethereum Virtual machine this trick will work too for independent blockchains separate from Ethereum. Some of these networks are Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, Fantom, and Polygon. So if you send some USDT, for example, to your wallet on Avalanche but accidentally selected Polygon by mistake have no fear! All you need to do is generate a new Polygon wallet with your Avalanche seed phrase and.... Presto! You'll find your funds safe, secure, and waiting for you.

If you've ever done this and just assumed your funds were gone I hope you're about to find free money for yourself.

Unfortunately this trick doesn't work if you accidentally send funds to a non EVM chain like Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, etc.
