Saw some people discussing issues with the merge, and developers not being confident in it. How much truth is there to this?

So there was a tweet from the lead dev ... he said Ropsten test Merge had completed, but then went on to say 30% of block attestations had got lost.

That and the fact even Ethereum researchers have laughed out loud when asked if they themself are staking their Eth.

How concerning is all this? I get the impression that it's people just out to attack Ethereum, and they're twisting/using whatever they can to make it sound bad.
