Preparing for my own death is hard.

I'm trying to deal with a problem that's been bugging me recently. I have a pretty decent crypto holding and I need to ensure my wife can access it if I were to die suddenly.

For simplicity, and as she has zero interest in crypto or its technology (other than through me) I've been trying to write a set of comprehensive instructions that covers in detail, how to get it from a hardware device to an exchange and cash it out to fiat. I've written instructional information and processes previously as part of my work and I know exactly what I'm trying to achieve. A Noddy and easy to follow process that gives step by step information on accessing the ledger device, connecting that with a couple of different wallets and getting our holdings onto a fiat off ramp.

What I'm also aware of is how much we as experienced users take for granted when we make a transaction or trade. Try and write that process down in an unambiguous way for someone with no or little experience, get them to dry run it, and it becomes very apparent.

It took me around 4 - 5 pages of information to get somewhere close to a complete process. And then there are the edge cases that I have yet to even detail. What if Electrum doesn't connect to ledger, or needs an update. What to do if she can't find my ledger or the device itself has broken. What if the exchange UI has changed. All these minutia details make it an absolute nightmare.

My question is how does everyone else with sizeable value in crypto cater for this scenario?
