I'm going to keep this super brief and I really appreciate the help.
I have looked at this from all the angles I know how to and I cannot work out how I would get scammed by this. I just need some guidance on staying safe.
Background: I created a new metamask wallet on the Etherium blockchain in order to make a donation to a user in Gitcoin for a blockchain enterprise. I know the user well and wanted to support their project.
I transferred in a small amount of Eth to the new account and immediately donated it via gitcoin.
Closed metamask and expected never to use that wallet again as I have a Trezor for cold storage.
By random chance I logged in to metamask today and it automatically showed that wallet and to my surprise there was 0.5ETH in the wallet.
Completely mystified, I opened the blockchain explorer and checked out the transfer. The transfer was 7 days after I made my donation. The wallet the Eth came from was a BIG wallet with transfers happening every 5 minutes or so.
There are a few comments on the wallet address that say it is a scammers wallet. No evidence or further info to back this up.
I have not touched the ETH in my wallet and am unsure how to proceed. Are there any scams out there that rely on me transferring this ETH out of the wallet? Can anyone shed any light on what might have happened or how this might be unsafe?

UPDATE: I bit the bullet and transferred it out of Metamask and into my cold wallet.
nothing bad happened.
I appear to be up 0.5ETH.
Today was a good day! ( I still don't know why this was sent to me. I guess it's possible someone tipped me from the Gitcoin donation I made? It would have to be a VERY generous anonymous person though....)
