Opinion: what will be the catalyst to sustained movement and in either direction?

This year has seen a prolonged period of “range” trading in the main cryptocurrency’s - by main I am of course referring to Bitcoin and Ethereum. Ethereum at this point seems to just mirror Bitcoins movement’s and has no real significant driver of its own. Many thought that Ethereum’s move to proof of stake and the fact that it is now deflationary as opposed to inflationary would boost the price, alas that was not to be the case and as noted it still just follows Bitcoins movements. Bitcoin since the beginning of the year has near doubled in price at one point but is now steadily drifting lower with no real reason for it to strongly move higher bar the news that the BTC ETF’s have or will be approved (which I personally think are largely priced in at this point).

So what significant events in Bitcoins timeline would we expect to move the price significantly higher or lower? Global economic sentiment is flatlined to negative looking as far as I can see, inflation rates globally are high and show little reason to reduce, surely most central governments are burning money to try and cover the cracks in prices that have risen hugely across the board. We have a war in Eastern Europe and more conflict arising in Israel. To me (and I say this as a holder prepared to hold for the very long term) I don’t see anything that is going to start a bullrun in crypto currently however I’d love to be wrong and hear counter arguments as to why we might see one. I also think the halving will not be the event it is being hyped and touted to be.

Edit : sorry if this sounds like a negative post, it’s not, it’s just how I personally am viewing the crypto space currently. I am of course hoping we see significant rises in the mid term.
