My Adventures as a Crypto Bounty Hunter : Fake Recovery Scam Edition

Today, we're looking into the world of a notorious fake recovery scam. It all started a few months ago when a victim reached out to me, seeking my opinion on this mysterious "company." At that time, I had no knowledge of their existence and simply advised caution. However, as the months passed and more unsuspecting victims emerged, my curiosity got the better of me. What I discovered was a scam like no other.

But before we embark on this eye-opening journey, let's shed some light on who Coin Dispute Network actually is.

CDN presents itself as a so-called "Recovery company" that began operating in June 2022. As we've seen, they maintain a Twitter account, a YouTube channel, and a website. Unfortunately, as I write this, it seems they've gone into hiding. Over the past two months, I've been investigating them, and during that time, they've deleted all their YouTube videos featuring supposed "victims" who were, in fact, just actors claiming to have successfully retrieved their funds with CDN. Additionally, their website appears to be non-functional.

What triggered my investigation :

Exploring the blockchain side, I managed to track down a wallet address associated with a couple of victims. Astonishingly, this single wallet alone has received approximately 26.5 Ethereum and 46,343.00 USDC over the course of a year. The scammers promptly transferred the USDC to another wallet address, where they are currently holding half a million USD. As for the Ethereum, they attempted to launder the funds by shuffling them between multiple wallets, storing some in smaller chunks of 10k across various wallets. To cash out a portion of the funds, they turned to Bitrefill, a system that allows conversion of crypto into gift cards of all kinds.

Currently, I'm working closely with two victims, determined to help them trace the funds back to a KYC wallet. Our mission is to ensure these scammers face the justice they deserve. If anyone possesses information that could aid our cause or if you, too, have fallen prey to this network, please send me all relevant details via message.

To all the victims out there, remember this: there's no such thing as a miraculous recovery scam. No one possesses the power to "brute force" a wallet and retrieve your funds. The only viable path to recovery involves a painstaking process that relies on cooperation between exchanges and the authorities.

As always Stay Safe and Freak the Scammers
