Scammers are more aggressive & scoring bigger. Wallet phishing is now their preferred method of attack. Only prevention works.

Updating Metamask token settings is one part in your overall security plan. And it's your best place to start.

Your security plan must center on:

• Eliminating and/or reducing vulnerabilities
• Loss mitigation features
• Increasing friction

This token setting I'm covering hits all 3.

Nobody but you should have unlimited access to your tokens. If you're hit, scammer's take is limited. Most importantly, raise the friction level. Make yourself a hard target.

UPDATE TO CURRENT METAMASK

If you run an older version of Metamask, an update is required. Previous versions do not offer enhanced token settings.

If you're not sure how, it's simple (mobile MM auto updates).

From your browser:

???? Select EXTENSIONS (toolbar icon)

???? Select METAM@SK menu icon (triple dots/lines)

???? Select MANAGE EXTENSION

???? Select UPDATE button (top center)

????????.????????.???? appears beneath VERSION (middle-left) upon completion of update.

Now that you're up to date, we're going to make one update to your wallet settings.

IMPROVED TOKEN ALLOWANCE SETTING

Only you should have unlimited allowance to your tokens & NFTs.

???? Open Metamask

???? Select SETTINGS (top-right colored button)

???? Select EXPERIMENTAL

???? Select toggle button on IMPROVED TOKEN ALLOWANCE

Your new setting restores full token control back to you, and only you.

Moving forward, new contracts are confirmed with your custom spend cap. It doesn't impact transaction functionality. You decide how the limit.

Worst case scenario, you accidentally grant access to a scammer or your protocol is hacked -- either way, scammer can only take up to the limit you previously set & nothing more.
