I've just upgraded my phone and transferred all of my data before wiping my old phone. Except I made the dumb mistake of forgetting to transfer my Google Authenticator information.
I didn't realise how difficult it would be to disable some sites.
I had to send a photo with information to CDC for them to disable my 2FA there (They were very quick and responsive and had no trouble with this).
I have had to do the same thing with my Midas account and am waiting for a response from them to manually disable my 2FA.
Discord was fairly straightforward, I was able to use a backup phrase after logging into Discord which enabled me to reset my 2FA within the Google Authenticator app.
Edit: Nexo seems to be the hardest, I’ve attempted to reset my password (I’ve used biometric logon for so long I’ve forgotten the password), but after clicking the link and putting a new password in, it asks for my 2FA which I don’t have access to Edit2: even after remembering the password for this account, it still requested I enter my 2FA, so I had to email support to disable it.
The easiest one however was my Pera-Algo wallet. I was able to use my backup 25-seed phrase to log into the wallet and did not need to worry about the 2FA resetting. I never thought I would have to use the seed phrase, but it goes to show how easy it is to make a mistake!
Remember to transfer your 2FA info before wiping your devices folks
Edit: I guess one benefit of this is it shows just how effective having a 2FA is for security
