Is my dad correct that bitcoin would never be legally allowed to be adopted on a large scale?

Old man’s words- “The whole problem is that bitcoin yes would make a nice standard, but that's only in the presence of freedom. If everyone's rights are being slowly lost, it has zero value. Think of it like this...what would a bunch of prisoners do with gold, cash, or bitcoins on the inside of a prison? Nothing. They get food, water, and shelter divvied up and given to them by those in charge. They have no use for any currency for sustenance. The same is true of society. If we lose all freedoms ultimately, which is where we're going, all forms of currency are useless. The only way people will be able to have their divvied "sustenance" will be in the form of digital currency issued by those overlords. I hate to be the "pessimist"
