Yes, Ledger Recover could have been announced and handled in a better way and there's no way I will be using the service but fundamentally and technically nothing has changed with the Ledger hardware security. It's utilising the Secure Element chip which puts it at the top of the list of mainstream hardware wallet vendors for physical security.
Sure, they could go rogue and release firmware to access private keys but then again, so could Trezor or Keepkey etc, except there's an additional risk of being physically compromised when using devices without the SE chip. At the end of the day, I trust that Ledger will not release malicious code in a firmware update way more than I trust an exchange not to end up like FTX or Celsius. Anyone feel the same way?
