Introversion vs Extroversion and BTC

I enjoy studying Jungian psychology and some of its offshoots and sometimes ponder how it connects to real world applications. One of the most simple concepts most people know is introversion vs. extroversion. Most people think it means social vs. antisocial however this is not true going by original definitions. It often correlates to being this way but not always.

Jung’s original definition had more to do with how we view objects. To Jung extroversion was a concentration of interest on the external object while introversion was an orientation towards subjective internal contents.

To put this into more simple terms let’s say we have an Apple sitting in front of us. Someone who is extroverted in their thought process would be interested in analyzing the Apple in an empirical way. How can I measure the apples dimensions? How much does the Apple weigh? What is the shape of this Apple. Where was it purchased and who does it get sent to next?

The introvert in contrast would think about the Apple as it exists in their head. The Apple in front of them might be deformed, tarnished, discolored, so it doesn’t necessarily represent a true Apple to them. They’re going to have this subjective idea of what an apple is which may have some more truth to it than what they see in front of them.

So what does this have to do with bitcoin? Well if you ask the extrovert to look at a bitcoin he sees nothing in front of him to measure. If you ask him to look at how bitcoin is being transacted he sees people in the real world paying in cash/credit card. Even if he reads the white papers it is quite meaningless without something tangible he can see.

The introvert on the other hand can “see” the bitcoin, can understand its inherent value, and maybe even grasp where things are headed in the future. Their view is subjective and so it could be wrong, but with something like bitcoin they’re going to see the truth easier.

This is admittedly an enormous oversimplification since we all have varying levels of both e/i and there are more dimensions to people. There are also extroverts who are into bitcoin. It does seem like a good way of understanding the debate though which is why I’m sharing.
