Is it the media, the FOMO, the fear of new technologies or something else?
On many levels I understand where people are coming from. There is no denying that cryptocurrencies have been used in many high profile crimes, mainly payment for ransomware attacks, and these are what make the news. Things like NFTs look completely insane if your only exposure to them is a news article saying someone bought a jpeg of a monkey for $200k.
However, I'm frequently surprised by the vitriol that comes up in most conversations with people about crypto. They'll dismiss any sort of interesting conversation about possible use cases and say it's just a scam. What do you all think drives this?
