I was a part of so called "insider group" that received the new WSB avatar from Reddit. A post that's trending on this sub is extremely manipulative and causes nothing but drama and bad reputation to Reddit and WSB crowd [SERIOUS]

Clarification:

Around February this year Reddit (one of the main admins) reached out to top contributors on WallStreetBets. Mostly people who’ve been on the sub for quite some time and spent a loot of time there creating the community. I was one of these people.

They invited 100 contributors to a Discord server and described the whole idea of a new “NFT project”. Back then avatars weren’t even a thing. We were not promised anything and we did not even care. Let me remind you it was early 2022, the war in Ukraine just broke out and the collapse of the markets began. None of us knew if we’re gonna get anything or how much it’s gonna be worth. We did not care, we were happy to be recognised and to help.

OP claimed we did 6 hours of work, well, in reality there were thousands of messages and ideas and let me assure you— way more than 6 hours. Some people contributed less, some people more - after all we thought we are doing it for fun. The fact that it started so early and released just now proves that there’s been a lot of work put into it. Many contributors came up with the ideas of what now you see as the NFT’s properties. Once again - we were promised nothing.

The Discord server went silent around June, I guess Reddit already had an idea for how it’s gonna look like and how they’re gonna execute this, so they turned off replies. Later, Reddit admin would send us a sign-up list for t-shirts (there is a pic on my profile). I was hyped to get one, but then again - we couldn’t even send a reply on Discord and we thought the project is dead.

There was no “corruption”, no “insider dealings”, no “secret messages”, as some of the comments suggest. We were all just happy to help, and surprised when we received the message about the collection drop. Even some mods didn’t receive the avatar, and people who were on the server didn’t all get golden traits.

IMO This is a genius marketing move by Reddit to target WSB crowd, increase volume, and spread the word about Avatars and NFTs in general.

Also, why wouldn’t Reddit reward top contributors of each subreddits with rare drops? Especially when it’s a free drop for 10k people. This is just my opinion, I respect and am curious to see yours. But please don’t say the game is rigged because none of us ever asked for anything.
