I just recently started getting sign in attempts on my email after joining Crypto.com. Before, I'd probably get one or two sign in attempts per year.
Is it really a coincidence that the day RIGHT AFTER I sign up, I start getting sign in attempts on my email?
If it weren't for 2FA, we would be fucked.
Which also makes me wonder, if the sign in attempts were from a Crypto.com employee, how safe are THEIR records from getting hacked in some kind of inside job like we've seen many times before in the crypto industry?
All it takes is one bad employee taking advantage of an opportunity where an honest colleague of theirs leaves their computer unlocked by mistake while they go out to lunch and it just so happens to contain a private key to one of the cold wallets on the exchange.
Edit:
I used a randomly generated password for my crypto.com account and I frequently change my passwords using a password manager. What happened here is that someone in crypto.com (most likely the case), tried logging into my email. It's an Outlook email protected by Authenticator on my phone, so that means no password is required to sign in, only the email and the device with Authenticator on it. The crypto employee only has my email. They do not have my password unless they're an NSA employee or there's a hardware keylogger installed on my device.
