So, I have been thinking about starting a political party or something in my country (the Netherlands) for quite some time.
This particular political party will mainly focus on the adoption of decentralization in modern society. so the main goal, would be to expand on the idea of governing a society autonomously. Discussing such ideas are of extreme value to me, especially after I learned that human nature is destined to corrupt itself once it gains in power.
Like, for instance, what if we all voted through the blockchain? People could be incentivized a small fee if they participate in voting (stimulating people to actually participate in a democracy), it could all be done through your smartphone and you completely remove any risk of corruption or incompetence. There is no corruption (which is inevitable without technology) because everyone will be able to supervise. And with the removal of incompetence, you avoid things like counting mistakes, which are human errors (which is also something that's inevitable to avoid without technology).
This would not only make a democracy function a LOT faster and more efficient, it also provides us with instant data that doesn't need to be updated by humans. The development of this system also allows our society to expand on the idea of decentralization.
Besides voting for a whole particular party, automatically agreeing with everything they stand for, we might aswel set up an even more advanced system that allows regular citizens with more diversity of choice. I had this idea of setting up different polls on particular policies. If the majority of votes agree on it, the policy has a high chance of being implemented (if its sustainable and realistic enough). If the voters are at a 50/50 split (or 33/33/33 or 25/25/25/25, depending on how many options there are) then the topic in question has to be debated much more intensively and frequently.
I believe that democracy can be decentralized, ultimately decentralizing governance as a whole. It will just take a considerable amount of social awareness and technological advancement to achieve this.
