Defending the important parts of the protocol and consensus is one thing. I agree its an important part of being a Bitcoin advocate.
There is wide spread shitty behavior conducted by many self proclaimed Bitcoin maximalists. Most are "plebs", some are influenctials figures who have famous books. This has nothing to do with protecting Bitcoin, it's toxic tribalism. This bahvior includes:
Making fun of Bitcoiners with progressive ideals.
Ridiculing vegetarians or vegans.
Attacking those believing in climate change.
Blaming the left for apartisan problems.
Spreading the dellusion that toxic behavior, not running code, saved Bitcoin in 2017.
Accusing Bitcoiners with family members in politics or banking of unsubstantiated conspiracies.
Defending these behaviors as somehow protecting Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is global money and doesn't care what your beliefs are or who you know. It's permissionless "money for enemies". It may be political, but it certainly is not partisan.
