A while back there were loads of swap services (not exchanges) for swapping coins, like ETH and BTC, without needing to create an exchange account, send them sensitive documents, and hope they don't get hacked or leak private information. Just put in how much (for example) ETH you're sending and your BTC address where you want to receive the swapped coins. Today there still are a ton of swap services like FixedFloat and EasyBit... except they all block users in the US.
I already have a Binance.us account and I use that for trading to and from fiat, but for direct coin exchanges it's absolutely terrible because their withdrawal fees are ridiculously high.
So how do I swap ETH and BTC (or other coins) in the US? How can I use coin swap services here?
