 | At the time of this post, Reddit’s Moons are currently listed at $0.1109. Well friends of Reddit, first we ponder how to do this. So I first decided, after conducting several hours of research, (see first page of Google search below), that the cheese that most resembles the Moon is Swiss Emmental cheese. To calculate the total cost of this dairy celestial object, it is evident that we need the total mass of the cheese entity itself. We know from physics that mass = Volume x Density. Because only the material of the moon is changing, the volume should remain the same (21.9 billion km^3.) The density however is a little more complicated. Now because cheese has holes in it, I was stuck with the question if cheese has a uniform or variable density. For simplicity I proceed under the premise that this type of cheese has uniform density. If we assume that the density was variable, we could integrate the mass with respect to volume like below. Of course we would use spherical coordinates for simplicity due to the inherent shape of the moon (Scalene Ellipsoid). However, we shall assume this cheese has uniform (constant) density. The USDA quantified that Swiss Emmental cheese has an average density of 1.1g/cm3. That means its density is also (1.1e+15). Based on our formula M=VD, our great planetary body of cheese should equate to 21,900,000,000x1.1e+15 = 65483409262.6 grams in mass. According to Gourmet Food, on average, the price of swiss emmental cheese goes for$19.19/lb which is roughly 4.23 cents a gram. (See below) This would mean that in US Dollars, we would require 21,900,000,000x110,000=2.409e+15 (.0423) USD to purchase our cheese moon. Converting to Reddit Moons, as seen in the exchange rate above, we would require. (65483409262.6 (.0423))/.011) Reddit Moons. Edit: I assigned several variables constant/linear for simplicity.
