How does the reddit vault work?

Hello, as the title suggests, how does the vault work? There's not much info about it and what I find I don't understand or find irrelevant to me?

I understand the basic stuff like it's a crypto wallet but how do you get the coins? is it like karma but a coin?

To you that have it, what are your intentions with it and what are you doing with it? just using reddit regularly or doing something special. Lastly, have reddit ''changed'' for you since you got it?
