In this sub, we see the question of knowing when to sell come up regularly. It's a hard problem as many, including me, have developed a mechanical or automated dollar-cost-average system of buying, but not selling. I also find that bullish markets feel different when clicking the "buy" button, especially if it feels like you are buying at the highest price in months. One strategy you can use, among many others, is the concept of Discount and Premium. For the sake of a longer-term strategy, I've put together 3 examples (images below) of BTC, ETH, and SOL. The concept is simple, take a High Price (ATH of the last bull market) and a Low Price (ATL of the bear market) and divide that range in half. If you buy in the bottom half of the range you are buying at a discount. If you buy in the upper half you are buying at a premium. In other words, DCA BUY while the price is at a discount and DCA SELL while the price is at a premium. To no surprise, BTC is the least discounted cryptocurrency as it's closer than any other to crossing into premium territory. ETH is heavily discounted in comparison. SOL, the youngest and most volatile of the three, is the most discounted by a wide margin. The concept of discount and premium can also be applied to shorter timeframes: weekly, daily, hourly, etc. BTCETHSOL[link] [comments] |
