I got a chat request by Stacy from Oregon, who just wanted to chit-chat a bit with me. I wasn't really in the mood for a long chat, so after a few messages I asked right away: "can we please get to the scam right away? yes, I am interested to register on your platform and invest with a very high guaranteed ROI".
You would expect them to stop there, right? Well, you also would expect them not to tarket me, considering the pinned post on my profile is me scambaiting, and I exposed a scam coin yesterday, which got over 20k upvotes. But they always target me and they always go on. So she pitched me her scam - nothing too interesting, super high guaranteed profit by trading "between gold, currency, bitcoin and exchange rate". The whole thing was pretty standard, as far as crypto-scammers go.
I just thought the ending was funny: I tracked her IP, and told her that I would like to meet her in Lagos and give her the money to invest in cash, and I really loved the explanation why her IP was in Lagos and her internet provider is Nigerian - she bought both of them when she was there on holiday. I then offered to tell my friends in the Nigerian police (just in case it isn't obvious: this is an empty threat, I don't know anyone in Nigeria) to track that IP, as someone was impersonating her, even though she told me "There's no need for that". And sure, most likely she just gave up scamming me and stopped answering, but I like to think that she left her place in a slight panic ;). Here's the end of our conversation.
yes I agree it's most likely a guy, I just say "she" because he called himself Stacy
