Can‘t believe that Crypto went all the way from Cypherpunks to now the biggest banks in the world adopting it. What a journey indeed.

For those who do not know, Cypherpunks is a normal description for anyone that advocated the widespread use of cryptography and privacy-advancing technologies. This description was first coined a whole 30 years ago! Back then there obviously was no Crypto and it was still over 20 years before even Bitcoin.

The great journalist Julian Assange, who leaked many disturbing details of the Iraq war and is until today arrested because of that, wrote a book called “Cypherpunk“ himself and also described himself as a Cypherpunk.

And the connections of cypherpunks and Crypto do not only lie in the word “cryptography“, but also generally it was seen that the very first users of Crypto and Bitcoin were some cypherpunks, which makes sense as such a niche group would immediately be interested in a project that does exactly support many of their views.

And now, just a bit over a decade later of Bitcoin being some project which probably was just mostly used by cypherpunks is being adopted by the biegest companies, hedge funds and even biggest banks. This rise, in just over one decade, is nothing to ignore.
