Btc etf pros.

I see people now and then shitting on etfs and wondering why anyone would buy them over an actual satoshi, so I’ll make a list. This is coming from a country that has already had etfs for two years now.

1: new faces people not into crypto trust the stock market. They see btc in the stock market, it will appeal to a much much larger audience.

2: key storage some people aren’t to be trusted with self security.

3: Fees! Depending on the package you have, x amount of trades have no fees, or a flat rate per trade. If you’re buying 10-20k, a $10 fee is much less than the 1-3% plus spread the exchanges offer.

4: inverse btc! (Exist in Canada already) When etfs are offered inverse etfs are almost always an option. That means they short the market so you don’t have to. Btc goes down, your money goes up. If you buy it expecting it to go down, and there’s a pump, you have no risk of being liquidated. With the low fees, you can swing trade between btc etf and inverse btc etf

5: investment packages you can invest with a broker to build a package of investments for you. A lot of these brokers to gain results will be adding in btc and inverse btc etfs to these. People will be investing in btc without knowing they’re investing in btc.

6: retirement accounts! Since it would be on the stock market you can add it into your retirement accounts.

7: TAXES! this is Canada specific and I’m sure your country has something similar, but we have a tax free savings/investment account we can add 6 k/year to invest tax free. If you max it out and buy btc at the bottom and make huge gains, all of that tax free is huge.

We also have fhsa (first home savings account) that is tax deductible, so putting money in there can write off actual crypto gains you’ve made, while then putting it back in crypto if you wish.

TL:DR btc etf can be good for the space, there’s lots of uses for them. They may not be for everyone but there is definitely a market for them.

Note: I’m not saying you should only buy one or the other. A balanced portfolio should include both and reap the benefits of both.
