Kaia? Kakao? LINE? Who?

We’ve written a whole whitepaper, but here’s a TL;DR instead:

• Kaia is an EVM-equivalent L1 that was formed through the merger of Klaytn and Finschia, which were L1s developed by Kakao and LINE NEXT respectively.
• Kakao is the developer and operator of the Kakaotalk messenger superapp used by well over 90% of smartphone users in South Korea.
• LINE NEXT is the Web3 subsidiary of LY Corp, developer and operator of the LINE messenger superapp), which is dominant in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
• As a merged chain, Kaia inherits both Klaytn’s and Finschia’s existing ecosystems of Dapps, totalling over 420+. We’re Asia’s largest Web3 ecosystem!
• A new SDK will allow builders to develop Mini Dapps that launch within LINE Messenger, with Web2-like UX.
• Kaia’s native coin is currently KLAY (the ticker for Klaytn’s native coin) - the ticker update to KAIA will be happening later in the year.

We’re solving Web3’s UX and distribution challenges

Globally, only about 7% of the world has onboarded to Web3. After superbowl ads, celebrity endorsements and BTC on the Las Vegas Sphere, we’re pretty sure it’s no longer about us being early, but the other 93% deciding Web3 isn’t for them.

Who can blame them? Deep down, we all know that seed phrase management is a right bloody hassle. Gas fees are a hassle. Waiting for transaction finality is a hassle. With Kaia, we’re giving builders all the tools they need to do away with everything about Web3 that the other 93% of the world dislikes:

• Near-instant transactions with 1s block time and immediate finality
• Fee delegation and abstraction
• Account abstraction for keyless wallet creation
• And integration with two of Asia’s favorite messenger superapps

And through the Kaia Wave builder support program, Mini Dapps will be able to instantly reach hundreds of millions of LINE users through push messaging, in-app banners, a dedicated KOL network, and more to rapidly acquire a user base.

What we’ve been up to

• The Kaia mainnet recently went live!
• We’ve just launched a points-based Missions campaign on Kaia Portal, the one-stop destination for all things related to DeFi on Kaia. We’ve set aside 50M KAIA as bonus incentives for completing Missions and accumulating points, grab ‘em before they’re gone!
• The NEXT WEB SDK that will allow the creation of Mini Dapps that launch within LINE Messenger will be publicly available soon - stay tuned if you’re a builder!
• The first Mini Dapps will be coming online before the end of the year.
