I know the rule - you don't talk about crypto to family. I'd always adhered by the rule but then at our family Christmas lunch I thought I spotted a way in to discuss it sensibly with family.
I was wrong. The opportunity I jumped on, was from my father-in-law praising Bitcoin and the value. So, I waded into the conversation, saying I held a bit of bitcoin along with a dozen other coins. I said my investments were doing really well. Then my sister in law shot me down telling the family I was clearly investing in fraud bits of code.
I tried to argue back with logic but she took the family along on her views, including my wife who now thinks I should sell what I have whole I have some profit before my "bits of code become worthless". She doesn't understand I need to hodl and have no intention to sell. So for breaking the golden rule I've now got in laws that think even lower of me. Yet, I know I'll be laughing when I buy my lambo with wife changing money.
Moral of the story, don't talk about crypto to family, even if it is Christmas.
