Accessibility in the crypto market – an ignored issue?

I’ve been in this space only for a few years, so not as long as a lot of people here might have. I have done a lot of research into many projects though, and one aspect I find myself thinking often about is the approach to accessibility and ease of use (or the lack of it). This doesn’t seem to be an issue for only smaller projects in the space but one for bigger, established projects as well.

I think accessibility is something that definitely shouldn’t be ignored in regard to all the talk and optimism around increased adoption, because ignoring accessibility could be a major roadblock for major adoption in the future. Crypto is in a way still a very niche area of finance and when thinking about larger adoption we should consider that a lot of investors are still, in the year 2023, people that can’t reliably even operate commonplace digital hardware or software. The obstacle is basically this: how do we approach bringing crypto and it’s related apps etc. to people who can’t even tell you what the operating system on their computer is? Or ones that barely know how to access the internet in the first place?

I’ve read a lot of whitepapers over the last few years and have seen very little talk of this issue. Many teams seem to boast all varieties of coding and blockchain expertise, but nowhere do I see people looking after the end user experience.

I feel that this area is something that will have to face changes as bigger institutions enter the space, as more traditional players like Visa have taken a certain level of ease of use for granted in their existing operation.

I’m curious to how people see this dilemma around accessibility. Do you feel that this is a problem in the first place? Have you seen crypto projects that have tried or are trying to tackle the issues mentioned? Or do you feel that concerns about accessibility are just arbitrary?
